Recall Up Date: 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport

The Problem: The parking brake cable on some Chevrolet Captiva Sport models doesn’t conform to a federal standard regarding park brake performance requirements. The park brake cable may not be fully seated in its connector and could separate, which would make the parking brake cable ineffective at holding the vehicle in place. The vehicle could then roll and crash.

The Fix: GM will notify owners of possibly affected vehicles around July 18. Owners will be able to take the vehicle to a dealer for inspection. If the problem is present, the dealer will connect the cables free of charge. Owners can contact GM at 1-866-694-6546 regarding campaign number 12127.

Number of Vehicles Affected: 2070 2012 Chevrolet Captiva Sport crossovers manufactured from April 26, 2012 through May 17, 2012.
