First Sketch: 2013 Fisker Nina

Fisker gives us a chance to peek into the future with a sketch of the first vehicle to be spawned from its Project Nina vehicle platform.

Fisker’s Project Nina, announced at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, will introduce three new vehicles by 2014, and the drawing above is a good indication of what we can expect to see from the second model line after the Karma. The first Nina vehicle is reported to be a midsize luxury sedan with some sort of extended-range electric drivetrain, and price is expected to start in the $50,000 range. Considering the new Nina vehicle is expected to be more affordable than the Fisker Karma, it should be smaller as well.

The sketch shows a car with a rear end that’s a bit more truncated than the Karma’s, but the new car should stick with a four-door layout. Given the new purchasing agreement between BMW and Fisker, we also wouldn’t be surprised if this car comes with a BMW-sourced four-cylinder under the hood as part of a plug-in hybrid powertrain, but we’ll find out more details at the New York auto show.

A production version of the first Fisker Nina is scheduled to roll off the line at Fisker’s Wilmington, Delaware plant at the end of 2012.
